Fringe Benefits Committee Minutes
Meyer Library 303, 2 p.m.
Members present: Sue Alvers, Howard Berriman, Ron Boaz, Alphonso Johnson, David King, Janis King, Deana Moore, Martha Tuttle, Neosha Mackey-Chair
Member absent: John Satzinger and Cynthia Winstead
Neosha Mackey, Chair of Fringe Benefits Committee reminded the committee that FBC is no longer responsible for healthcare-related issues. The Chair of the FBC has been added as a liaison representative to the HCPRC (currently Neosha Mackey, FBC Chair).
Neosha has been sending various items to FBC members throughout the Fall Semester.
There is a large Wellness Taskforce and new FBC member Cynthia Winstead volunteered to represent the FBC on it. We will wait to hear from Cynthia.
The major item for discussion was visibility of fringe benefits other than healthcare, insurance, and leaves of various kinds. Presently one must go to the Human Resources page, then to Benefits, then to Fringe Benefits Summary to get a description of the main benefits and a list of other university services and facilities with no description there. In the Employee Handbook there is a description of the other university services and facilities but not necessarily with the same headings. The Faculty Handbook describes the different types of Leave benefits and educational benefits but not the other fringe benefits.
The Committee discussed a variety of ways to increase visibility with a focus on providing more information on the Fringe Benefits Committee home page or links in a variety of places. A small sub-group of Deanna Moore, Alphonso Johnson and Neosha will work on a sample to present to the committee on Tuesday April 25. Sue and Deana will work with us on the Web page changes.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 pm so that members could go to the Staff Compensation Plan Town Hall meeting at 3 pm in the PSU Theater.
