Viewing documents through the Hummingbird DM5 Webtop component of Missouri State Imaging requires that a user access the system using Internet Explorer, and that Adobe Acrobat Reader be installed on the personal computer being used. For some Windows XP users, an additional virtual machine Java Script may also need to be present.
Internet Explorer: To access Missouri State Imaging, one must do so using Internet Explorer. To install a current version of Internet Explorer, perform the following:
- From the computer task bar, click Start and select Run.
- Type \\Bear1 and click the OK button.
- Double click on the Apps folder.
- Double click on the Internet Explorer folder.
- Double click on the latest Ie folder (ex: Ie6.0).

Adobe Acrobat Reader: Most current documents are stored as PDF files within the Missouri State Imaging system. In order to view these and other document types, one must do so using Acrobat Reader. To install the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, perform the following:
- From the computer task bar, click Start and select Run.
- Type \\Bear1 and click the OK button.

Follow the instructions to install the application, accepting all defaults by clicking the Next button to proceed from screen to screen.
VM Java Script: In order for Hummingbird DM to properly interpret input into a web page, a particular virtual machine Java script must be present. Some versions of Windows XP do not include this script. If you are running Windows XP on your machine, and are experiencing problems logging in to Missouri State Imaging (and have eliminated the possibility of inadequate access or an incorrect password) then you may need to install the required virtual machine Java script. To do so, perform the following:
- From the computer task bar, click Start and select Run.
- Type \\Bear1 and click the OK button.
- Double click on the Apps folder.
- Double click on the MS Java folder.
- Double click on the MSJavx86.exe icon.
- Click the Yes button when asked to install Microsoft VM.
- Click the Yes button to accept the licensing agreement.
- Click the OK button when installation is complete.
