Scholarships and Financial Aid
As a student in the department of fashion and interior design, you have many opportunities to receive financial assistance to support your studies at Missouri State University. Below is information about scholarship opportunities specific to students in fashion and interior design.
You may also qualify for University scholarships. The Office of Financial Aid provides information about University scholarships, grants and loans. Most scholarships at Missouri State University, including those designated for fashion and interior design students, require the submission of a completed General and Departmental Scholarship Application. Details about additional materials required are included in the descriptions below.

Gertrude Altemiller Nelson Endowed Scholarship Fund
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time student majoring in family and consumer sciences. Consideration will be given to high school academic performance and leadership quality. Consideration will be given to those individuals with a C+ average or higher. Scholarship to be used for foods, sewing and homemaking areas within the department with recipients using their degree as a teacher, home demonstrator or county agent.
Jo Anne Booher Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded to a junior or greater majoring in family and consumer sciences with an overall GPA of 3.0. Must me a student member of the Missouri Home Economics Association or American Home Economics Association.
Floy T. Burgess Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded to a student graduating within two semesters of application with a specialization in an area of family and consumer sciences. There must be intent to continue with the profession, an overall GPA of 3.0 and a departmental GPA of 3.25.
Springfield Design Association Interior Design Scholarship
Value
Two scholarships valued at approximately $650 each.

Applications must be received by April 6 and must include the following:
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Selection criteria
Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in interior design with an overall GPA of 2.5. Student must also have a 3.0 GPA in their major.
Springfield Home Builders Interior Design Scholarship
Value
Three scholarships valued at approximately $500 each.
Application
Applications must be received by April 6 and must include the following:
Renewal criteria
This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Selection criteria
Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in interior design with an overall GPA of 2.5. Student must also have a 3.0 GPA in their major.
Association of Clothing and Textiles Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a student majoring in clothing, textiles and merchandising that has completed at least 32 hours with an overall GPA of 3.0.
Family and Consumer Sciences Education Scholarship
Selection criteria
There are currently no requirements for this scholarship other than being a student that is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in family and consumer sciences.
Fashion and Interior Design Scholarships
Selection criteria
There are currently no requirements for this scholarship other than being a student that is seeking a degree in either fashion or interior design.
Dr. Paula Kindrick Hartsfield Family and Consumer Sciences Education Scholarship
Value
Scholarship amount will vary depending on income generated by foundation account.

Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time student majoring in family and consumer sciences education. For freshmen, consideration should be given to high school academic performance and leadership. Sophomores or greater must have an overall GPA of 3.0.
Jacquelyn Ledbetter-Freshman Scholarship
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time incoming freshman. Consideration given to high school academic performance and leadership, and must have taken one or more family and consumer sciences courses in high school.
Dr. Joyce J. Waldron Family and Consumer Sciences Education Scholarship
Value
One scholarship: amount will vary depending on income generated by foundation account.

Complete the General and Departmental
Scholarship Application by March 1.

This scholarship can be renewed, but students must reapply to be considered for renewal.
Selection criteria
Awarded annually to a full-time junior or greater majoring in family and consumer sciences education with an overall GPA of 2.7 and a GPA of 3.0 in their field of study. Graduate students may only be awarded if there are no qualified undergraduate applicants.
