Admission Requirements

The Master of Science in Education, Secondary Education program has a competitive admissions process and seeks to admit students who demonstrate the potential to be successful in graduate school and are committed to secondary education, as demonstrated by their interests and background. A student must also hold certification to teach secondary education and meet all graduate school requirements.

Applications for the Master of Science in Education program are accepted for both the fall and spring semesters. For the fall semester, the application deadline is April 1. For the spring semester, the application deadline is October 1.

Admission qualifications

To be considered for admission to the Master of Science in Education, Secondary Education program, you must meet these requirements:

Certification to teach secondary education
Completion of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 2.75 GPA
Submission of the Graduate College application and related fee

Special circumstances

Applicants in education-related occupations or professions other than secondary school teaching which require licensing or certification by state or national boards may be recommended for admission. The student must complete any required prerequisite courses. Such courses do not count toward completion of the degree requirements.
