The Finance and General Business Department (FGB) is one of six Departments in the College of Business here at Missouri State University. The College of Business is the largest in the State of Missouri, and is fully accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). This accreditation places The College of Business among the top 10% of business schools accredited by AACSB in the world that have received total program accreditation. AACSB is widely recognized as the premier accrediting agency in the world. The AACSB "seal of approval" speaks to the quality of all programs in the College of Business. The College of Business is the largest in the State of Missouri.
The FGB Department offers majors in Finance (Finance, Financial Planning and Real Estate), General Business, and Risk Management and Insurance, as well as minors in Finance, Financial Planning, General Business, Insurance, Legal Studies, and Real Estate. There are approximately 900 majors and 150 minors in the Department. Classes are taught by high-quality, terminally qualified faculty, rather than graduate students. We offer the only Risk Management and Insurance major in the State of Missouri. Missouri State University's first endowed chair, the Baker Chair of Insurance, is housed in our Department. Service learning in business, internships and cooperative education courses are also available.
Active student organizations in the FGB Department include Financial Management Association (FMA) and Gamma Sigma Iota Insurance Fraternity. Many students are involved in the Delta Sigma Pi and Beta Alpha Psi business fraternities. Students with majors and minors in the FGB Department can also apply for available departmental scholarships.
