Public affairs presentations

The Economics department has been highly visible in the community through active participation in the University sponsored public affairs conference as well as the organization of multi-disciplinary panels.

In fall of 2005 the economics department organized a panel to discuss the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

In fall 2006 the Economics department organized a debate on the Stem Cell Initiative which was a controversial election issue.

In spring 2007, the economics department actively participated and organized two economics panels at the University sponsored Public Affairs conference. The two panels were “Immigration in a Shrinking World”, for which Dr. Mahua Barari was the facilitator and “Trade: Uniter or Divider”, for which Dr. John Hoftyzer was the facilitator.
