Assistive Technology Services (ATS) at Missouri State University (MSU) provide a wide range of assistive technology and adaptive computer technology services. Assistive Technology services are provided to qualified students, faculty, and staff at MSU only upon proper referral (see referral procedures) to ATS. These services include training and support, in-class accommodations, and conversion of required class materials into accessible formats such as Braille and screen readable text.
Bear Line offers a convenient and safe way to travel - no matter where your destination on campus. Just JUMP OFF from any of the well-lit, covered shuttle stops conveniently located across campus. Shuttles are climate controlled and offer a comfortable ride. No individual fares will be charged to any passenger. Buses are specially equipped for persons with disabilities. Bear line also links with the city of Springfield's accessible bus system.
Bear Line can help take the pressure off finding a parking space in crowded lots. Simply park in one of the spacious, covered parking garages - Bear Park North, located off John Q. Hammons Parkway with entrances on Cherry and Elm Streets, and Bear Park South, located at the intersection of Holland and Grand - and catch the shuttle. Just be sure to arrive about 15 minutes early to allow plenty of time to reach your destination.
The Bear Play Sport and Recreation program is designed specifically for individuals with disabilities. This program is offered by Health, Physical Education and Recreation faculty member Dr. Rebecca Woodard. Examples of activities include power soccer, goal ball, beep baseball, wheelchair basketball, and sitting volleyball. Modifications will be made for everyone regardless of the activity and/or disability. Sport wheelchairs are available for use if a student does not use a wheelchair or prefers not to use their own chair in a sport activity. The program is open to the Missouri State and Springfield communities. Individuals without disabilities are also invited to attend.

Delta Alpha Pi is an International Honor Society for students with disabilities. Because of the negative stereotyping associated with disability, students have been reluctant to identify themselves publicly. Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society presents an opportunity to change that perception by recognizing students with disabilities for their academic accomplishments. The Educational Technology Center located on the 2nd floor of Meyer Library provides support and assistance for instructional technologies in multi-campus environments - offering equipment lending, graphic services, video production, multimedia workstations classroom support, technical support, consultation, and training. Escort Service: Safety and Transportation Department provides an on-campus walking service seven days a week during the hours of darkness. An escort officer will be radio dispatched to the caller's location. No more than two students will be escorted from the same point of origin to the same campus property destination. The mission of the Clinic is to provide a clinical/educational environment in which to train students enrolled in the programs of Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and educational assessment and intervention services for persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Under supervision, undergraduate and graduate students observe and participate in the assessment and management of disorders of communication which result from hearing loss or deficits in the production or reception of speech. The patient population served by the Clinic includes children and adults in the greater Springfield area.
TRIO is a grant-funded program by the Department of Education. At MSU, the goal of TRIO is to assist qualified students in attending and eventually graduating from college. Students with disabilities who have demonstrated high motivation, persistence, and achievement in academic areas are placed in internships in research and development throughout the country. Mentors advise the students on future undergraduate coursework, plans for graduate study, and/or employment.

In addition to offering competitive salary stipends, the companies and agencies provide assistive technology and other reasonable accommodations. Travel funds and recommendations about accessible housing and transportation may also be provided to students who are relocating for the summer.

Rehabilitation Services for the Blind (RSB) provides services to people with varying degrees of visual impairment, ranging from those who cannot read regular print to those who are totally blind. MPCDD is a federally funded, 23-member council appointed by the Governor.
