Learn nutrition in different cultures
The Dietetics program has sponsored study away trips to Italy, Greece, and El Salvador. These trips allow you to explore other countries, cuisine, historical sites, nutritional habits, and sometimes tour clinical dietetic facilities. May 2015: Taste of Italy
Tour the many great cities of Italy including Milan, Florence, and Bologna. Participate in chocolate tasting, cooking courses, visits to a gelato factory and vinegar distillery, and all while learning about cooking processes that are thousands of years old.
Study Away Opportunities
Greece: In Search of the Seven Species
Explore Greece by touring Athens, Olympia and many other cities while tasting the wonderful foods of the Mediterranean diet including some of the oldest foods in the world. Guided tours, a four-day Greek Island Cruise, and additional activities are part of this two-week trip. The trip to Greece is taken on a year-by-year basis and was last taken May 2014.
Malnutrition in Developing Countries: El Salvador
Work with the Convoy of Hope and visit San Salvador, El Salvador, and the surrounding area teaching health education and taking anthropometric measurements for rural elementary students. You will also get a chance to visit organizations that provide health and nutrition related services to the people of El Salvador. This trip runs every spring break.
