Education Abroad Advisory Committee

Purpose: Shall meet on a regular basis (as determined necessary by committee members and the Office of Education Abroad) to award exploratory travel away funds to faculty who have completed all application requirements for such, and to determine the winners of the annual Award for Excellence in Education Abroad Programming.

Shall serve as an advisory committee to the director of the Office of Education Abroad.

Shall serve as an advisory resource for faculty, department heads, and deans who wish to consult the committee regarding their own Education Abroad programs.

Membership: The Education Abroad Advisory Committee shall include seven (7) full-time faculty members from at least four different colleges of the University, appointed by the Chair of the Faculty Senate (or their designee) after consultation with the Director of the Office of Education Abroad. The Chair of the Faculty Senate shall strive to appoint a majority of committee members with experience leading a Education Abroad trip. The Director of the Office of Education Abroad shall serve as an ex officio member without vote.

Members shall serve for a term of three (3) years and may be reappointed for one succeeding term. Terms shall be staggered so that approximately one-third of the members are replaced or reappointed each year.

The Chair of the Faculty Senate shall appoint the chairperson of the committee.
