Topics for Discussion:
The Dean must submit the College Enrollment Management Goals for 2010 on Sept 16 to the Provost. The Dept Heads were asked to supply data for this report on projected number of majors (undergrad and grad), total SCH, and levels of enrollment by modality.
All Departments that intend to provide a 3-year Degree Program option are asked to put a link to the web page describing this option on their departmental home page.
International Travel requests must include an expense form as well as an explanation of the purpose of the trip. They are to be submitted first to the Dean and then will be sent on to the Provost for approval.
All faculty are asked to develop contingency plans to deal with the possible effects of the H1N1 flu virus outbreak on campus. Dept. Heads will work with faculty and students to deal as effectively as possible with forced absences.
The Deadline for receipt of Intersession Proposals is Sept. 30, 2009. Those proposals that are approved by the Dean will be acknowledged with a letter containing the "break even" number needed to receive full payment for the course. The practice of paying $20/student above 20 students in the course has now been ended.
Department Heads are asked to discuss with their faculty ways to provide "intensive" public affairs experiences for their students as a capstone experience to replace the GEP 397 course. Among the options that are being discussed are intersession courses, study away courses, internships, service learning courses, and 3-hour courses developed on a public affairs theme.
Each Department will receive a budget allocation to assist students to attend professional meetings.
