December 20 Final grades due. A power outage is scheduled but will not include Strong Hall. Campus computer labs will be designated for use prior to this date.

Discussion

· Dr. Matthews proffered an alternate time for Department Heads’ meetings next semester but those in attendance elected to retain the current Thursday at 9:30 a.m. time slot for spring 2009.

· Dr. Matthews reported receiving some commendable informative data from David Mitchell (ECO) with regard to budget issues and agreed to share that via e-mail with the Department Heads.

· Noting the move to centralized scheduling in either Spring or Fall 2010, Dr. Matthews asked the Department Heads to be planning ahead for classroom assignments by reevaluating class sizes and being flexible with night classes for competitive purposes.

· The current Study Away policy can be clarified by contacting Dana Carroll, Director of Study Away Programs (836-6368).

· With a large portion of CHPA’s endowed scholarships now “underwater,” letters have been sent to donors in an attempt to increase their support. Dr. Matthews encouraged the Department Heads to look at their “R” accounts before advertising any scholarships.

· Alternate methods of conducting faculty evaluations were discussed. In order to decrease the number of new forms to be ordered, Dr. Matthews asked the Department Heads to return any blank evaluation forms they might still possess.

· With regard to Dr. Maurice Tate’s recent house fire tragedy, information on how faculty and staff can contribute to his family will be made available as soon as possible.
