Oral Presentation
  • Oral presentations are summaries of research that should be accompanied by visual illustrations such as PowerPoint.
  • The CHHS Student Research Symposium will select 12 abstracts to give an oral presentation.  Students are required to indicate interest in giving an oral presentation in the abstract submission form.  In order to be considered for the oral presentations, students must also display a poster presentation throughout the Symposium.
  • All oral presenters must check-in at 2:30 p.m. in PSU Ballroom East.  All presentations requiring projection will be loaded on the computer and the room monitor will verify pronunciation of names and titles.
  • Each presenter will have 7 minutes for the presentation followed by 2 minutes for questions.  In order to maintain a fair time allotment to all presenters, the time limitation will be strictly enforced.  A time keeper will hold up a card at the 6 minute mark, indicating there is one minute left.  At the 7 minute mark, the time keeper will hold up another card which indicates the presenter must conclude the presentation.  If the presenter does not conclude at the 7 minute mark, he/she will be given another 30 seconds at the end of which, the room monitor will close the presentation and open the session for questions.
  • Bring a USB flash drive or CD to upload the presentation to the computer provided in the room.  Please ensure your USB drive or CD are virus-free.

Poster Presentation
  • Posters are visual representations of research and should contain lettering, photos, and content that can be seen from a distance.
  • Set-up for poster presenters will be from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in PSU Ballroom.  All posters must be hung by 3:30 p.m. and remain on display until 5:30 p.m.
  • Presenters are expected to be physically present at their posters throughout the symposium, except druing oral presentations.
  • Wooden display boards (4 feet tall x 6 feet wide) and tables will be provided.   Presenters must bring their own presentation materials, which will be secured to the display board with push pins.  Please bring your own pins to secure poster materials.
