The Teacher Certification Office Staff

Scott is originally from Minnesota, and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Sociology from Bemidji State University in northern Minnesota.  He then completed a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. 

Scott has been working at Missouri State University since 1991, has been the Missouri State Certification Officer since July 2002 and the Director of Student Services since July 2008.  Scott is responsible for the coordination of all post bac and Master's Level teacher certification programs at Missouri State, monitors all undergraduate BSED programs to ensure that they stay in compliance with DESE standards, and oversees the Teacher Certification Office, the Professional Education Advisement Center and the Education Field Experiences Office.

Cindy Thieman
Professional Education Advisor/Recruiter

Cindy is originally from Napoleon, Missouri and taught Elementary Education in Lamar, Missouri for many years.  Cindy is a Missouri State Alumnus earning a BS degree in Elementary Education and an MS degree from Pittsburg State.  She was a member of the MAP reading team in Jefferson City, and has presented at Interface, Young Years, Southwest Center, and NTCM at Pittsburg State University. She also helped implement the Accelerated Reading Program and Prime Time Read-In in Lamar.

Cindy joined the Teacher Certification Office as an Academic Advisor in August 2009.  Her main responsibilities include recruiting and advising students in the Post Bac and Master's level teacher certification programs and completing transcript analysis.  Cindy is a firm believer in education and is excited to be working in the College of Education.

Jennifer is originally from Michigan city, Indiana and is happily married to her husband Don.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Missouri State and is now pursuing an MS in Administrative Studies. 
 
In November, 2003 Jennifer joined the Teacher Certification Office staff as the Administrative Secretary.  Her main responsibilities include recruiting and advising students in the Post Bac and Master's level teacher certification programs and completing transcript analysis.  She also assists the Coordinator as needed.

Lisa is a Southern Missouri native, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Business from Drury University.

Lisa has been in the Teacher Certification Office since July 2007.  Her primary responsibilities include coordination of the recruitment, selection and admission processes for all Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Special Education Alternative Certification Program (SEACT) and Visually Impaired Program (VIP) students.  Lisa  is the primary contact for all three of these programs.  She also assists with transcript analysis, gpa calculation, and special projects.
