How do I request a formal Transcript Analysis?  Getting started couldn't be easier!  In order to begin the process of earning your certification, you simply need to follow the steps below:

1.  Read the Post Bac Teacher Certification Admission Criteria.  In order to apply for any of our teacher certification programs, you must have a minimum 2.50 overall cumulative GPA.  If you are not sure of your overall GPA, our office will calculate it and notify you of your GPA status.  if you believe you meet this criteria, proceed to step 2.

2.  Print out the Application for Post Baccalaureate Admission and Teacher Certification Transcript Analysis, fill it out, and return it to our office with the transcript analysis fee.  This form is used for EVERY program for certification, both at the post bac and masters level.  Please send your application to the following address:

          Teacher Certification Office
          Missouri State University
          901 S. National Ave. , Hill Hall 203
          Springfield, MO  65897

This form admits you to Missouri State University as a teacher certification student, and allows us to analyze your transcripts for certification.  No other application to Missouri State University is necessary to begin the process.  If  you decide to pursue certification through one of our masters degree programs, you will also complete the application process listed for that program.

3. Determine your transcript analysis fee.  Students are required to pay a $40.00 fee for the first area of certification we analyze, and $10.00 for each additional area.  You do not need to pay any additional fees if you indicate an interest in the MAT, SEACT or MSED programs.  All fees must accompany the request for a transcript analysis.  For your convenience, you can pay by cash (in person only, do not mail cash), check or credit card.

4. Request official transcripts from EVERY college and university you have attended.  We require an official transcript from every college and/or university you have attended in the past, even if those courses were transferred to another university. To request a transcript from another college or university, we ask that you use our Transcript Request Form.  In order for the transcript to be considered official, it must come directly to our office from that college or university.

Foreign Transcripts:  If your transcripts are from a country outside the U.S., those transcripts must be evaluated by a Foreign Credentialing Agency  before we can accept them.  Once the transcripts have been evalated, you will need to submit BOTH a copy of the official transcript and a copy of the report from the Credentialing Agency.  You are only allowed to use a Credentialing Agency approved by the State of Missouri.  For a list of approved Credentialing Agencies, click here.
