Family Reconciliation Mediation Training

Register now to reserve your spot in this training!

Friday and Saturday, December 4-5, 2009  *  Springfield, MO at Missouri State University

Led by Sharon Bayus, MA, LPC, of Innovative Alternatives, Inc.

The Center for Dispute Resolution is pleased to offer advanced training in Family Reconciliation Mediation. Participants in this training will learn the Family Reconciliation Mediation model, a unique process that utilizes mediation to reconcile prolonged family disputes. The emphasis of this training is on family crisis decision-making, and includes a focus on couples, parents and children, adult siblings, and inter and intra-generational family conflicts. The model is also effective in addressing personnel grievance cases involving long-standing relationships in the workplace.

The Family Reconciliation Mediation model can be applied to many types of disputes, including the following:

  • Common conflicts between couples
  • Mediating whether the marriage can be saved
  • Inter- and intra-generational issues
  • Extended family issues
  • Creating discipline plans and parenting plans
  • Major family decisions, such as the care and support of elderly parents
  • Conflicts involving long-standing relationships in organizations

Audience: The target audience for this training includes mediators, professionals who work with families (including counselors, social workers, clergy, and court personnel), and human resource professionals. The training does not cover the basic mediation process, so attendees who have not had prior mediation training are recommended to also complete a basic mediation course (the CDR is offering this course in April).

About the Trainer: Sharon Bayus, MA, LPC, has over 20 years of experience in training and service provision and is the President and Lead Instructor of Innovative Alternatives, Inc., an organization that has been training mediators in cutting edge applications and components of mediation for two decades.

Cost and CE Credit: The registration fees for this event are as follows. CE credits are available at no additional cost.
