The Student Service-Learning Leaders (S2L2) program is a student organization dedicated to developing student leadership that is applied to service-learning. Service-learning enables students to take their academic experience and apply it in a way that benefits the community. It is a Missouri State public affairs initiative. The program was launched in 2007-08 to create opportunities for students to create a broader awareness of service-learning and to include student voice in strategic planning.
The job pays $10/hour and the hours are flexible. The maximum number of hours/week is 10. Click here for a link to flyer.
General responsibilities include:
- Facilitating student focus groups to solicit information and broaden campus awareness
- Reading Students as Colleagues (purchased by CASL office) as a team and discussing chapters
- Reviewing well regarded service-learning student leadership initiatives on other campuses and reporting on those to the group
- Advise CASL office on how to include student voice in strategic planning
- Assisting faculty with service-learning students in the spring of 2008
- Assist with civic engagement activities on campus, including, but not limited to Public Affairs Week, Public Affairs Conference, and Voter Registration
- Community Partner visits
Qualifications include:
- Interest in community service
- Eligible for Federal Work Study (Call Mary Barb in the Student Employment Office 836-5627 to confirm eligibility)
- Excellent communication skills
- Desire to work with college students and the CASL office
- Leadership experience
One of the perks is a backpack (of the student’s choice) that is $45 or less.
