WEST PLAINS
Related to academic employees, the Board approved the resignation of Kirsten McGaughey, nursing and unranked faculty appointments.
The Board approved the non-academic appointments of Patricia J. Walsh, assistant to the chancellor/coordinator of institutional research, office of the chancellor; and the retirement of Roger D. Tuttle, superintendent of buildings, grounds and custodial services, physical plant, business and support services.
The Board approved Approval of Lease Agreement for Property Located at 105 South Curry Avenue, West Plains.
The Board also approved purchasing and activity reports for July-September for the West Plains Campus.
PURCHASES/CONTRACTS
The Governors approved the activity and purchasing reports for the Springfield campus.
The Board approved contracts for Federal Construction Inc., $151,159, for the base bid for the nursing simulation lab at the Professional Building; Cannon Design, $75,000 plus reimbursable expenses, for design and construction of a new underground utility tunnel from McDonald Arena to the new recreation center; Gold Mechanical Inc., $55,200, for the base bid for the installation of two new boilers at Hammons House; A-1 Electric Service, Inc. , $250,000, for the outside plant telecommunications wiring contract.
The Board approved an intergovernmental agreement relating to the use of Hammons Student Center. The Board also approved an increase the project budget for the renovation of Siceluff Hall by $50,000 above the project budget of $9,939.355 and an increase the project budget for the sidewalk repairs at Temple Hall Plaza on the Springfield Campus by $15,000 above the project budget of $98,500. The Board reaffirmed a contract for sale of real estate for the purchase of property at 401 E. 17th Street, Mountain Grove. The Governors also approved proposals and award of a contract for the FY10 job order contracting services – electrical repair and replacement; FY10 job order contracting services – plumbing repair and replacement; FY10 job order contracting services – insulation repair and replacement.

Dr. Michael Nietzel gave a report. The Board approved repealing out-of-date Board resolutions and the awarding of the 2009 Bronze Bear to T. Edward Pinegar, Jr. and Carol Pinegar of Springfield.
EDUCATIONAL
Governor Bradbury updated the Board on the Academic Affairs Committee meeting.
Dr. Margaret Weaver, Faculty Senate chair, gave a report.
Dr. John Catau, associate provost, introduced faculty award winners and gave a report. Dr. Frank Einhellig, dean of the Graduate College, reported on the three-year evaluation of the Futures Initiative.
The Board approved a revision to funding sources for the department of defense and strategic studies.
Dr. Jim Baker, vice president of research and economic development, gave a report on sponsored research activities.
WEST PLAINS CAMPUS
Dr. Drew Bennett, Missouri State University-West Plains chancellor, reported on activities at the West Plains campus. The Board approved a modified program for the associate of applied science in computer technology and a new academic program for a certificate in small business development.
STUDENT AFFAIRS
Governor Smith updated the Board on the Student Affairs Committee.
Chris Polley, student body president, gave a report.
Dr. Earle Doman, vice president for student affairs, also gave a report.
FINANCIAL
Brent Dunn, vice president for university advancement, reported on development activities for the month of July-September.
Nila Hayes, chief financial officer, reported on English Language Institute fees.
The Board approved additional purchasing activities.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Ken McClure,vice president for information and administrative services, gave a report. The Board approved revisions to the Handbook for Administrative, Professional and Support Staff.
The Board also reviewed governing policies for Missouri State University for future approval.
Following the meeting, the Board met in executive session.
