CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS

WEST PLAINS

For non-academic personnel, the Board approved the appointment of Donna J. Jones, director of nursing; Krista J. Webb, technology support specialist, information technology services; and Courtney C. Hendrickson, assistant coach, athletics, volleyball; and a change of status for Jennifer D. Walker, to financial aid counselor, WP financial aid.

The Board approved the reappointment of non-tenured faculty as well as the appointment of Amy Ackerson, lecturer of nursing. The Board approved reappointment and tenure for Debra Mayers, instructor; and Connie Morgan, instructor; reappointment, promotion and tenure for Renee Moore, associate professor; and tenure for Craig Klein, dean of academic affairs/professor of communications.

The Board also approved the purchasing and activity reports for April and May. The Governors also approved that the Community First National Bank be officially named as the depository for the West Plains Campus of Missouri State University.

PURCHASES/CONTRACTS

The Governors approved the April-May activity and purchasing reports for the Springfield campus.

The Board approved the following contracts: Gold Mechanical Inc., $134,000, for the base bid for the domestic water heating system replacement at Blair-Shannon House; Mid-Continental Restoration, Inc., $107,326, for the base bid for the tuckpointing and exterior repairs of Ellis; A-1 Electric Service, Inc., $158,960, for the base bid for the emergency generator for the Power House on the Springfield; Ball Paving Inc., $46,720, for the base bid, plus alternate 1, for the parking lot maintenance on the Springfield campus.

The Governors also approved that the original architectural and engineering services contract with Cannon Design, $1,540,350 plus reimbursable expenses, be modified to reflect the changes in the scope of work in conjunction with new University Recreation Center.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Dr. Michael Nietzel gave a report. He presented the Fiscal Year 2010 Operating Budget (action to be taken at June meeting) as well as reviews of the 2009 Session of the Missouri General Assembly.

EDUCATIONAL

Dr. Pauline Nugent, past Faculty Senate chair, gave a report. Dr. Margaret Weaver, current Faculty Senate chair, also gave a report.

Dr. Belinda McCarthy, provost, also gave a report. The Board approved a resolution expressing its appreciation to Dr. Pauline Nugent for her exemplary service as chair of the Faculty Senate for the 2008-09 academic year. The Board also recognized the contributions Dr. Alexander Wait and other staff responsible for leading the 2009 Public Affairs Conference.

Dr. Jim Baker, vice president for research and economic development, gave a report.

WEST PLAINS CAMPUS

Dr. Drew Bennett, Missouri State University-West Plains chancellor, reported on activities at the West Plains campus.

The Board approved  fee course revisions and a Memorandum of Understanding to enter into an agreement with the West Plains R-7 School District.

STUDENT AFFAIRS

Chris Polley, student body president, gave a report.

Earle Doman, vice president for student affairs and dean of students, also gave a report. The Board approved a resolution recognizing the services of Orlando Hodges and Whitney Paul as president and vice president of the Student Government Association, respectively. The Governors also approved as resolution recognizing the service of Ryan Childress, student Board member.

The Board approved the 2009 Wyrick proposals.

The Board also approved additions to the Wall of Fame: Linda Dollar, Wensey Marsh, John Schatz, Dr. Genevieve Cramer, Ralph Williams and Milton Rafferty.

STAFF SENATE

Casey Comoroski, chairperson of the Staff Senate, gave a report to the Board. The Board approved a resolution recognizing her service as Staff Senate chair for 2008-09.

FINANCIAL

Brent Dunn, vice president for university advancement, reported on development activities for the month of April.

Nila Hayes, chief financial officer, gave the financial report for the third quarter. The Board approved an identity theft policy. The Board also approved additional purchasing activities.

Ken McClure, vice president for information and administrative services, gave a report. The Board approved a lease for 530 North Booneville, Springfield, Mo.

OTHER BUISNESS

The Board approved an amendment to its bylaws.
