Graduate Assistantships

Assistantships in the College of Health and Human Services and assistantships in the department of biomedical sciences are designed to supplement a student’s graduate course work.

Graduate assistants in the biomedical sciences department are hired to do the following tasks:

  • Teach introductory courses
  • Supervise laboratory research 
  • Participate in research studies

Benefits

  • A stipend of a minimum of $8,000 for the 2011-2012 academic year and a minimum of $2,000 for the summer semester is awarded to the student.
  • The fee waiver covers the cost of tuition for up to 15 hours during the fall and spring semesters and up to 6 hours during the summer semester.

Eligibility requirements

Students who would like to apply for a graduate assistantship in the biomedical sciences department must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work or a minimum GPA of 3.0 on nine or more hours of the most recent graduate course work that the student has completed

Application requirements

Students who would like to be considered for a graduate assistantship in the department of biomedical sciences must submit the following materials:

  • The student must be admitted to the Graduate College and a master’s program at Missouri State.
  • Submit a completed graduate assistantship application
  • Submit three letter of reference forms must be submitted to the biomedical sciences department, before a student can be considered for an assistantship.

The graduate assistantship application and the three letter of reference forms can be submitted to the biomedical sciences department office, Professional Building, Room 400 or mailed to the following address:

Students who apply for an assistantship for the fall semester will be notified before the August start date. Those who apply for a assistantship for the spring semester will be notified by late November.
