Keynote speaker Dr. Jean Henscheid is an associate professor of Educational Leadership and Policy at Portland State University. She is also a senior scholar with Portland State Student Affairs and the Center for Academic Excellence. Jean is executive editor of the academic magazine About Campus and a fellow at the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition. She has authored and edited numerous books, monographs, book chapters, and articles on topics related to the college student experience and conducts workshops across the U.S. and abroad with a primary focus on learning communities, general education, curriculum design, and learning assessment. Jean led learning community programs as well as taught undergraduate and graduate courses in leadership and research methods at Washington State University and taught interdisciplinary first-year courses at the University of Idaho where she was director of general education. For Portland State she teaches graduate courses in leadership, organizational theory, research methods and learning assessment.
