2017 Public Affairs Assessment Workshop

A total of nearly 50 reviewers from colleges across campus came together at the 2017 Public Affairs Assessment Workshop (PAAW) to assess student work in the Public Affairs section of General Education. Faculty, staff, and students collaborated as reviewers. Reviewers included faculty, staff, and students who were able to play an integral role in the assessment of general education here at Missouri State University.

We had guests from Jefferson College in St. Louis who heard our own Dr. Keri Franklin and Mark Woolsey present about Missouri State's Quality Initiative Project (QIP) at the 2017 Higher Learning Commission Conference in Chicago. Dr. Franklin invited them to participate in our Public Affairs Assessment Workshop which is an extension of the QIP into General Education.

This year, at PAAW, reviewers assessed de-identified student work samples from the Public Affairs section of General Education. A rubric was developed from the three General Education Goals related to Public Affairs: Community Engagement, Cultural Competence, and Ethical Leadership.
