Center for Assessment and Instructional Support
An important message to Missouri State University Seniors and Juniors:
The exit assessment should be taken during the student's senior year, and must be taken prior to graduation. If you will be student teaching or working as an intern off campus, you should take the exit assessment before leaving campus following your accomplishment of 90 credit hours. Juniors who will not be on campus and have completed 90 credit hours may take the assessment in the junior year. The assessment includes a 36-item multiple-choice examination on general education. The assessment requires 1 hour and 15 minutes for completion.
The assessment results may be used for a number of purposes. The combined results will:
Help evaluate the effectiveness of the Missouri State University general education curriculum
Represent the performance of Missouri State University students to the public
Represent the university in funding decisions
Provide you with an estimate of how you rank relative to your graduating class. Your individual exam score will provide an assessment of your abilities that may be helpful to you in applying for employment.
Your score is available to you if you are interested in including it in your portfolio or resume. If you want your score mailed to you, bring a self-addressed stamped business envelope to the session or mail it to the Missouri State University Center for Assessment and Instructional Support. You are encouraged to do your best so that you can use the results and the university assessment will be as accurate as possible.
The average score will represent all Missouri State University students in various reports and discussions on and off campus. The number of students taking the test and the number of those students ranking above the fiftieth percentile on the test will affect how Missouri State University is viewed as an educational institution. These performance measures are incorporated in legislative funding decisions for Missouri State University. This is your opportunity to demonstrate how good we are to the rest of the state and influence the reputation of your university.
Thank you in advance for participating in the assessment program.
