Can Personal Statements Help Get You Into Law School?
You bet!
Many law school admissions committees value a student's personal statement as equal with GPA and the LSAT score!
It stands to reason then that careful study and preparation of your personal statement is a critical part of preparing to enter law school.
The Princeton Review publishes a book titled Law School Essays That Made a Difference. The book is now in its 3rd edition.
The material here was derived from the 2nd edition and deals only with the 67 applicants whose personal statements appear in the 2nd edition.
What appears here is a chart with the student's name (when available), their LSA Score, Undergrad GPA and the Law School Attended.
The book includes other law schools they applied to, successfully and uncessfully and the complete texts of their personal statements.
The book also discusses the process of law school admissions, has interviews with law school admissions officers and a rather extensive discussion about how to writed a personal statement.
The 3rd addition should be in every budding attorney's library and is available from Amazon.com for $9.99.
The 2nd edition is availabe in the Phi Alpha Delta library.
