Fraternities offer an opportunity to men to grow in brotherhood, academics, leadership, and community service.  When an individual joins a fraternity, he is joining a college family.  That family serves as a support system for the member's entire college career and throughout life.

What is the difference between IFC and NPHC?

IFC is a representative governing body for most of the Greek fraternities.
NPHC is the campus coordinating body of historically African-American fraternities and sororities.

How expensive is joining a fraternity?

Fraternity dues range from $35 to $70 a month, and the average rent for a fraternity house is $250 a month without a meal plan.

Will I be hazed?

Hazing is defined as any action taken or situation created, whether on or off fraternity property, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule.  The Greek system at SMS does not condone or tolerate hazing.

If I don't drink alcohol will I still fit in?

Just because an individual joins a fraternity does not mean that he must consume alcohol to be a part of the chapter.  The Greek community promotes using alcohol responsibly through GAMMA (Greek Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol). 

There are many organizations to get involved with at Missouri State, why should I go Greek?

Greek organizations are recognized for producing future student leaders.  Being a member of a fraternity provides countless opportunities to hold leadership positions within a chapter, which provide a stepping-stone for holding various campus leadership positions as well.  Not only does every chapter have an executive board where new leaders can shine, but there are countless committees and various offices which keep chapter members busy and provide for great experiences.
