Missouri State University

6/18/24 Rule

Freshmen:  You must pass a minimum of 24 credit hours each academic year.  This includes the fall and spring semesters and a limited number of hours from summer school.

You may count a maximum of 6 hours from summer school toward the total of 24.  This is known as the 75/25 rule because at least 75% of the credit hours for the academic year must come from the fall and spring semesters while only 25% can come from summer school.  Therefore, you must pass at least 18 hours in the fall and spring combined in order to be eligible for the following fall semester.

After your first year:  You must pass a minimum of 18 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters combined to meet this rule.

Also, you must pass a minimum of 6 credit hours each semester to be eligible for competition in the following semester.  Click here to view the 6-Hour Rule and other rules.
