Bear CLAW

The Bear CLAW (Center for Learning and Writing) is located on the first floor, southeast corner, of the Missouri State University Learning Commons is located in Meyer library. This new interactive space unites the resources and expertise of the faculty, library personnel, computer and information technology, the Writing Center, subject-area tutoring, and supplemental instruction in an environment that fosters informal, collaborative work, and social interaction. The Bear CLAW includes subject area tutoring, the Writing Center, and will deliver a variety of workshops designed to improve student success.  

The Student Success Initiatives at Missouri State University start with the development of the Learning Commons, with the most visible piece being the Bear CLAW. This new interactive space, located on the first floor of Meyer Library, provides an environment that fosters learning through an environment that encourages social interaction and collaborative work. The Bear CLAW will be the base for the Writing Center, subject-area tutoring, campus learning communities, and supplemental instruction, uniting the resources and expertise of the faculty, library personnel, and computer and information technology.

Services Offered to the Campus Community:

  1. Subject area tutoring
  2. Employment or volunteer service opportunities for experience in peer tutoring
  3. Variety of workshops designed to improve student success skills
  4. Coordination and implementation of programs and services for the general academic development of students at Missouri State University
