Stephanie Muschall came to Missouri State from Omaha with the intention of studying graphic design. “But when I discovered I could combine my design and writing skills into a wide range of career opportunities, I knew marketing was the right fit for me—marketing encompasses everything! I love that it's constantly evolving and exists in virtually every business,” said Muschall.
Muschall considers the marketing faculty a highlight of her education. “Every professor I had the opportunity to learn from was incredibly knowledgeable and inspiring,” said Muschall. As a graduate student, she enjoyed exploring more of the critical thinking aspects of her field.
“Marketing teaches you to think outside of the box and explore every solution...”
In addition to her coursework, Muschall put her marketing education into practice during two internships. As an intern with 417 Magazine, Muschall worked in the marketing department on e-mail campaigns, events, press releases and sales presentation design. At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC), she created promotional pieces using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, wrote 12 articles for the semi-monthly newspaper and assisted with many other projects. “Both of these internships allowed me to see the marketing principles I learned in my classes translate to real-world application,” said Muschall.
As she worked toward her MBA, Muschall worked as a graduate teaching assistant. Muschall also served as an alumna advisor for her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. In 2011, she served as chapter president and received the Outstanding Female President of the Year award.
“My passion for Alpha Chi Omega taught me that to be truly successful in my career, I must be doing something I love; I believe I can find that in the marketing field.”
In her free time, Muschall loves to travel. “My happy place would probably be on board a cruise ship,” said Muschall. She also enjoys dancing, going to concerts, watching Netflix and spending time with family and friends.
