Ed Del Conte now works for BKD CPAs & Advisors with an assortment of clients, from not-for-profit hospitals to high-net-worth individuals.
Why I chose Missouri State, though I lived in Texas: I was a newlywed, and my wife’s parents, who are originally from Springfield, were moving back after spending 20-plus years in Texas. My wife and I discussed a possible move as well. After some investigating and discussion with my wife’s parents, who attended Missouri State, I decided to tour the University and developed a fondness for its campus, so I applied. To be frank, I did not look at any other universities. What really made the decision worthwhile was the fact that Missouri State recognized my prior education and granted me a stipend to cover the difference between in-state tuition and out-of-state tuition.
Favorite part of the MAcc program: The best part of my education came while participating in the tax clinics for low-income taxpayers. The clinics allowed me to focus on learning taxation while helping those with needs at the same time.
What he does with BKD: I work on an assortment of clients from not-for-profit hospitals to high-net-worth individuals. I am never bored with what I do!
Career goals: I have a desire to lead. Long-term, I either want to make partner at BKD or become a chief financial officer at a Fortune 500 company.
How his MAcc helps him with these goals: It engrained in me the ‘I CAN’ attitude. There is nothing I cannot do if I apply myself to it. It sounds cliché, but honestly, this is my last impression of the program.
Life outside of work: My passion is my family. My wife, Mandi, is really my rock. She ensures our house functions like a well-oiled machine. My sons Sam, 4, and Tony, 1, put a smile on my face each and every day. I try to spend as much time with them as possible.
