Degrees: Bachelor’s in business administration, Luther College, 1984; Master of Business Administration, Missouri State University, 2004

Why I chose Missouri State University: Because the College of Business, as well as the University, has a great reputation, and Missouri State’s MBA program is well known. I wanted to continue my adult education and professional development, and I knew Missouri State would assist in that.

What my experience was like: Going back to the classroom as an adult was a little challenging, but it was also fun, exciting and very rewarding. I felt that all of the faculty genuinely cared for me. They also gave much attention to and cared about their teaching, which allowed me to learn.

What I do at work: As the president of Mercy in St. Louis, I oversee all of our health-care delivery options, as well as the advancement of Mercy. We have four hospitals, 800 providers and 150 locations across the region. There is no such thing as a typical day in my job. Everyday there are many new challenges and opportunities; it’s a very dynamic position.

How Missouri State’s MBA program helped me in my career: The material in the courses was both didactic and very relevant. I have been able to use it in my day-to-day work. Overall, the education has allowed me to be in a position that is going to carry me into my future.

Why I recommend Missouri State to others: Missouri State is a great value. The price of the education versus the benefit of the education is well worth it. I would most certainly recommend the College of Business to anyone interested in advancing his or her career.
