There are times when the evaluation of a transfer student's transcript results in one of more courses being designated as electives (i.e., there are no clear cut course equivalences in the Missouri State University curriculum). If the student wishes to have the course re-evaluated to see if it might be the direct equivalent of a specific Missouri State University class, they should contact the head of the department where the course in question is offered.
If, on the other hand, the student wishes to have the course re-evaluated to see if it may be used to fulfill a Missouri State University general education requirement, they should make an appointment to meet with Dr. John Catau, Assistant Provost for Undergraduate Programs, who is the Missouri State University articulation officer. He may be contacted in Carrington Hall 209 or at (417) 836-4589. When they meet with Dr. Catau they should take along supporting information (e.g., a course policy statement, a catalog description, etc.) which depicts the content of the course in question.
If Dr. Catau agrees that the course satisfies the "spirit" of one of our general education categories, he will assign a GEP code to the class.
The GEP codes are listed below along with their applicability to both the old and new general education programs. If a student's transfer evaluation form or audit shows a GEP code it means the course may be used to satisfy that category of our general education program.
