ACT scores are required for admission and registration purposes for all new degree-seeking students who have fewer than 30 credit hours and for students seeking admission to teacher certification programs.

The ACT must have been taken within the last five years. Students who have not taken the test in the last five years must arrange to take it on a nationally set date or through a residual test administered by the Testing and Counseling Center (Carrington 311).

Students 22 years of age and older are not required to have ACT scores on file for admission to the university.

Using ACT Scores for Advising:

English: Students having an English score of 18 or less are required to enroll in ENG100.  All other students take ENG110.

Mathematics: The ACT math score is used to identify the math placement options of all students with a math score of 19 or higher. Those with scores of 19 or less must either take MTH 101 (Intermediate Algebra I) or take a math placement test. Students with a score of 20 or higher who are not satisfied with their placement according to the following table, may elect to take the placement test. When the outcome from the placement test differs from the one based on the ACT score, the student has the option to choose either one after consulting with their advisor.
