Hello! My name is Molly Beck and I am from Saint Louis, Missouri (in case you're also from Saint Louis and would like to know, I attended Parkway Central High School). I am a second year senior - basically I love Missouri State so much I decided to take a victory lap! My two majors are Speech and Theatre Education - Theatre Emphasis and Political Science with an International Relations minor. This is sadly my last semester at Missouri State before I head back to Saint Louis for my student teaching!
I have a job on campus as the Student Specialist for Fraternity and Sorority Life in the Office of Student Engagement. My on-campus involvement includes my sorority, Panhellenic Association, Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA), Homecoming Steering Committee, Playfair Facilitator, Student-Missouri State Teacher Association (S-MSTA), Greek Week Committee, Relay for Life Planning Committee, Equal Opportunity Advisory Committee, University Ambassadors, Order of Omega, Rho Lambda, Omicron Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Eta Sigma, and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
Five random facts about me:
1 - I am a pretty decent cook
2 - I cheer for the best baseball team in the world, the Saint Louis Cardinals!
3 - I am six feet tall and to clear up confusion, I have never played basketball or volleyball.
4 - I once licked a glacier in Switzerland....kinda gross in retrospect.
5 - I went to a Hanson concert this summer.
Missouri State University is absolutely incredible - I have had an amazing four years here and I am excited to start my fifth year! I have two hugely important pieces of advice:
1 - Get involved. It doesn't matter how you get involved, but you need to get involved. Find a student organization (or two, or seven...whatever works) that you like. Go to sports games and cheer on the BEARS! Meet people in your residence hall and classes. Go to all of the free events that groups like Res Life and SAC put on. Play intramurals. Join SGA. Just find something you are interested in and dive in head first.
2. Get an umbrella. A large one that covers you and your backpack. Get some rain boots as well.
