A Federal Pell Grant is a free grant and is available to eligible undergraduate students that have not earned a bachelor's degree. Student and family income information that is provided when completing the FAFSA determines Pell eligibility; enrollment hours determines the amount (fulltime, three-quarter, half-time, less than half-time).

Missouri State Pell Adjustment Policy

It is university policy to calculate a student's initial Pell Grant award based on fulltime enrollment. The final Pell award will be adjusted to the enrollment status at the end of the Change of Schedule Period (COSP) each semester (see deadlines below). Registration for all classes must be completed by the COSP deadline, including Second Block classes, in order to be counted towards Pell eligibility. Pell disbursement normally occurs before classes begin, therefore if the COSP course load is less than fulltime the student may have to repay all or part of the disbursement. Advance Pell adjustment is recommended and can be done by calling or visiting the Office of Student Financial Aid. Pell awards for financial aid applications that are received after the COSP deadline will be calculated based on the student's enrollment at the time the application is received.

           COSP Pell Adjustment Deadline:

           SPRING 2008 - January 18, 2008
           SUMMER 2008 - June 10, 2008
           FALL 2008 - August 29, 2008

Pell recipients that are less than fulltime at Missouri State and are enrolled with another accredited school may be eligible for a Standard Consortium Agreement if filed before change of schedule deadline.
