Nursing Scholarships

Contact the department at (417) 836-5310 for information on the following scholarships.  Scholarship amounts may vary annually. Unless otherwise noted, students must be undergraduates enrolled full-time (12 hours).

Dr. Robert W. and Charlotte K. Bitter Endowed Scholarship Fund
Student must be a nursing major. When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential, and to leadership qualities. When awarded to a student at the sophomore level or higher, the student must have achieved an overall 2.5 GPA.

Columbia Hospital South Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship
Student must be a nursing major, have an overall GPA of 3.0, and enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours a semester. Financial need is considered.

Thelma Ritter Evans / Four State Stroke Club Nursing Scholarship
Student must be a junior with 60 or more credit hours or senior with 90 or more credit hours and have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. The recipient must be or have been a resident of Jasper or Newton County in Missouri, Cherokee County in Kansas, or Ottawa County in Oklahoma. Financial need is considered.

Gladys C. Harmon Scholarship
Student must be enrolled in the junior or senior level program leading to a BSN degree and have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.  Student must be enrolled in at least 6 hours each semester.  Financial need is considered.

Lea Landon Gerontology Scholarship
Student must be a junior with 60 or more credit hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Student must be a Gerontology major, or if no Gerontology students meet the awarding criteria, a nursing major. Preference given to student who exhibit records of service, leadership and qualities consistent with the goal of the public affairs mission.

Nursing Education Scholarship
Student must be enrolled half-time (6 hours) as a junior or senior in nursing. Student must demonstrate scholarship, leadership and potential for professional advancement.

Ozarks Association of Pharmaceutical Representatives Department of Nursing Scholarship
Student must be a graduate student enrolled in 6 or more credit hours and have a GPA of 3.4 or higher for last three semesters of coursework. Student must be in good standing. Student must be resident of MO with a current MO RN license. Student must submit in writinag his/her intention to practice in Southwest MO area upon graduation.

Ammon D. Schaeffer Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a junior or senior with an overall GPA of at least 2.5 and a GPA of at least 3.0 in Nursing. Student must be enrolled in at least 6 hours each semester. Financial need is considered.

Missouri State Nurses Association Scholarship
Student must have maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Preference will be given to a student involved in the Missouri State Nurses Association. Student must be enrolled in at least 6 hours each semester. Consideration will be given to financial need and leadership qualities.

Springfield Medical Foundation Scholarship
Student must be a half-time (6 hours) junior or senior. Consideration will be given to scholarship, leadership, character and potential for professional advancement.

Roy T. Wilcox Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a nursing major selected with regards to academic scholarship, leadership, character, and potential for professional advancement.
