General Scholarships
In order to be considered for many of the scholarships offered by the University, you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before March 31 each year. Scholarships requiring the FAFSA are indicated by an asterisk(*).

Aaron's Automotive Products/C.R. Wehr, Jr. Scholarship Award
Student must be a full-time employee or a dependent of a full-time employee of Aaron's Automotive Products. Contact Aaron's Automotive for more information.

American Postal Workers Union Award
Student must submit a research paper based on the struggle of the American Postal Workers Union and/or the Organized Labor Movement. Mail submissions by April 1 to: Scholarship Contest, M.P.O. Box 872, Springfield, MO 65801.
Anna B. Jefferson Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be a junior or senior who demonstrates satisfactory scholarship and financial need.
Ava Class of 1925 Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from Ava High School. Contact the high school counselor for information.
B. Frank and Ora Dale Ryan Gillette Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from Ash Grove High School with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Barbara and Mike Ingram Endowed Scholarship
Student must be a graduate of Parkview High School in Springfield, Missouri. Preference will be given to a student who is the first in his/her family to attend college. Consideration will be given to a student who demonstrates the potential for college success, leadership qualities and evidence of strong motivation. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester, demonstrate financial need, and be Pell-Grant eligible. In addition, they must not be receiving institutional merit-based or athletic scholarships.
Basil Boritzki Academic Achievement Scholarship
Student must be an active member of the Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity. Recipient must be enrolled full-time and maintain satisfactory academic progress to renew. Contact the Missouri State Office of Greek Life for information.
Bernice Gabriel Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshmen ranked in the upper 20 percent of their class and have a minimum ACT of 26. Financial need is required.
BiGALA Scholarship
Student must be a member of BiGALA. Student will be selected with regard to high school performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests and to leadership qualities. Contact the BiGALA organization for more information.
Bill and Virginia Ralls Darr Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from Southern Reynolds County High School. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Bowler Family Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a graduate from a Springfield, Missouri high school. First preference will be given to graduates of Glendale High School, second to graduates of Kickapoo High School, and third to graduates of Central High School. Preference will be given to an individual that works to provide supplemental income for schooling throughout his/her college career. Consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential and leadership qualities. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester, demonstrate financial need, and be Pell-Grant eligible. In addition, they must not be receiving institutional merit-based or athletic scholarships.
C. Wallace Walter Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be enrolled in 15 hours each semester with a 2.5 cumulative GPA and financial need.
Carol D. Jones Endowed Scholarship Fund
Consideration will be given to a student who demonstrates high school performance, college potential, leadership qualities and evidence of strong motivation. Preference will be given to a student who is the first in his/her family to attend college, has financial need and is a parent and/or to a student who transfers from Ozarks Technical Community College. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester.
Centennial Legacy Leadership Scholarship
Consideration for incoming freshmen is given to high school performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests, to campus and community involvement, and to leadership qualities as attested by teachers and adults in the community with whom the student has worked. When awarded at the sophomore level or higher, the student must show evidence of continued campus and community involvement and have maintained an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients must be enrolled in 12 hours each semester.
Central High School Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from Springfield Central High School who ranks in the upper 20 percent of the class. Recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress to renew. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Clinton and Leta Reed Scholarship*
Student must be a full-time junior or senior with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and financial need.
Cynthia R. Black Webster County Leadership Scholarship
Student must be a graduate of Marshfield High School with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70, and demonstrate public affairs leadership by actively participating in school, community, and or church activities. First preference given to a junior level transfer student.
Dannyale Denise Gaines Alpha Kappa Alpha Memorial Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman who is an African American woman graduating from a Springfield, MO high school or a Blue Springs high school in Kansas City, MO. Applicants must show a strong involvement in school and community activities. Contact Alpha Kappa Alpha for more information.
Dollie Jones Bittenbender Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from Pleasant Hope High School who ranks in the top 10 percent of the class. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Duane G. and 'Lyn Meyer Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman with outstanding academic performance.
E. R. Smith Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from Dadeville High School with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Elsie L. Plaster Endowed Scholarship Fund
First preference will be given to graduates of Neosho High School in Neosho, Missouri, second to graduates of other Newton County high schools, and third to graduates state wide. Consideration will be given to high school leadership and citizenship qualities as well as participation in any and all extracurricular activities. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester.
Evans and Aleene McReynolds Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be enrolled full-time with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and financial need.
Evelyn A. Porter Scholarship*
Student must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and financial need.
Floyd M. and Bertha E. Holt Scholarship*
Student must be a senior with a 2.5 cumulative GPA and financial need.
Fran and Cliff Whipple Scholarship
Student will be selected with the following considerations: first preference given for a non-traditional female student, second preference given for a female student of American Indian ancestry. Complete the Multicultural Leadership Application and return to the Multicultural Student Services Office by February 1.
Gib & Julia Adkins, Jr. Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman Lebanon High School selected with regard to high school performance, college potential, and leadership qualities. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Grace Gardner Endowed Scholarship
Student must be participating in an approved study away program. Recipient must have a minimum 3.75 GPA on 60 credit hours earned at Missouri State University and have an expected family contribution of $5,000 or less, determined by the FAFSA. Students who meet the eligibility criteria must request consideration from the Study Away office by May 1 when applying for fall study abroad opportunities and September 1 when applying for spring study abroad opportunities.
Greek Scholarship
Student must be a full-time sophomore or above who is an active member of the Missouri State Greek community with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Contact the Missouri State Office of Greek Life for information.
Homer and Dorothy Mace Kesterson Scholarship
Student must be a full-time junior or above majoring in biology, educational administration, English, mathematics or modern and classical languages. Recipient must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.5 GPA in his/her major.
Honors Scholarship
Student must be a full-time senior for the fall semester with a 3.4 cumulative GPA and at least 60 hours completed at Missouri State. Recipient must demonstrate leadership in extracurricular activities. Complete the Honors Scholarship Application and return to the Financial Aid Office by March 1.
Hutchens Industries Scholarship*
Student must be a dependent child of a Hutchens Industries employee with financial need. Contact the Personnel Office at Hutchens Industries for information.
International Students Activity Scholarship
Student must be an active member of the Association of International Students. Recipients are selected on the basis of their GPA and participation in intercultural activities. Complete the ISA Scholarship Application and return to International Student Services, Carrington Hall, Room 302.
Jack F. Moore/IBEW Scholarship
Student must be a son or daughter of an 11th District IBEW member. Complete the IBEW Scholarship Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by June 1.
James E. Bane Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman with financial need.
Jean Freeman Memorial Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from the Ozarks region with financial need. Preference is given to minority students. Recipient must maintain a 2.2 GPA to renew. Complete the Multicultural Leadership Application and return to the Multicultural Student Services Office by February 1.
Jerry Fortner Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be in good standing and have financial need.
Jessie M. Ross Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be enrolled full-time with financial need and may not receive other academic scholarships.
Jim Ferguson Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman African American. Preference is given to graduates of Springfield high schools. Recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress to renew. Complete the Ferguson Scholarship Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 1.
John Parker and Mildred Coats Parker Scholarship
Student must be a graduate of Mountain Grove High School with a 3.0 GPA.
Joseph N. Boyce/Wall Street Journal Public Affairs ScholarshipStudent must be a full-time junior or senior in good academic standing with a record of service and leadership. Complete the Joseph Boyce Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 1.
KY3 Broadcast Scholarship
Student must be a resident of Missouri or Arkansas, enrolled in a broadcasting curriculum full-time with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Contact KY3 for application materials.
Lebanon Alumni Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from Lebanon High School with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
License Plate Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshmen and rank in the upper 20 percent of their class with a minimum ACT of 26. Financial need is required.
Lucy E. Smith Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from Greenfield High School with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Mahala Denney Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman. Preference given to graduates of Seymour High School. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Margaret Bowles-State Farm Insurance Companies Scholarship*
Student must have financial need.
Mighty Mites Scholarship
Student must be a sophomore or above with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Recipient must work with the Mighty Mites Youth Football Program for about seven weeks beginning on Labor Day, at approximately 18-20 hours per week. Recipient must demonstrate adequate performance of duties for the Mighty Mites Program and a satisfactory academic record to renew. The scholarship will cover up to 30 credit hours and books for a full academic year. Complete the Mighty Mites Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 1.
Missouri State Alumni/St. Louis Leadership Scholarship Fund
Student must be from the St. Louis area, including residents of St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson counties. When awarded to an incoming freshman, consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential, leadership qualities and evidence of strong motivation. When awarded to a transfer student, the student must have achieved an overall 2.75 GPA. Preference will be given to a student with at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale who scored a 26 or higher on the ACT. Recipient must be enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester. Financial need is considered.
Missouri State Dames/Vi Pollard Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an upperclassman who demonstrates academic promise and financial need. Preference is given to a single parent returning to school after an extended absence.
Morton-Wilson Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman with financial need.
Nora Spurlock Parker Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from Mountain Grove High School with a 3.0 GPA.
Norman M. Spiva Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman with financial need.
Ora Dale Ryan Gillette Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from a Springfield public school with financial need.
O'Sullivan/Tandy Corporation Scholarship
Student must be a dependent child or grandchild of an employee of a division of the Tandy Corporation. Complete the O'Sullivan/Tandy Scholarship Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 31.
Paul D. and Marian F. Minick Scholarship*
Student must graduate in the top 15 percent of their high school class with a 3.0 GPA and financial need.
Peggy Bane Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman with financial need.
Pepsi-Cola Public Affairs Award ($1,000) 6 available
Student must be full-time and have completed 45 hours with a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Recipient must demonstrate a record of service and leadership. Complete the Pepsi-Cola Public Affairs Award Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 1.
Phi Eta Sigma/Scott Mathis Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a sophomore or above who is an active member of Phi Eta Sigma. Recipient must have a 3.5 GPA for the freshman year. Contact the Phi Eta Sigma advisor for information.
Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship
Students must be full-time junior or senior Phi Kappa Phi members. Contact Phi Kappa Phi for information.
Pleasant View Scholarship Award
Student must be a graduate from Hillcrest High School in Springfield, MO and a former student of Pleasant View Elementary or Junior High in Springfield, MO. Contact high school counselor for more information.
Ray and Susie Forsythe Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from Cabool High School with a 3.25 GPA. Preference is given to a business major. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Ray Edwards/IBEW Scholarship
Student must be a son or daughter of an 11th District IBEW member. Complete the IBEW Scholarship Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by June 1.

Robert B. Noble Scholarship
Preference is given to a dependent of a Noble Communications employee or a student majoring in advertising, culinary arts, visual arts, performing arts or communications. Complete the Robert Noble Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 31.
Robert Lee Scott Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be upperclassmen with academic promise and financial need.
Roma and Edna Durington Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from Buffalo High School with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Rosemary Frankenberger Scholarship*
Student must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and financial need.
Roy Ellis Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from a southwest Missouri high school with financial need.
Sarah Bickel Leadership Scholarship
Student must be a full-time junior or senior who demonstrates leadership and involvement in student organizations and activities. Recipient must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Contact the Missouri State Dean of Students Office, PSU 405 for an application.
Sigma Chi Founders Fund
Student must be an active Eta Kappa Chapter member enrolled in 15 hours with a 2.25 cumulative GPA. Contact Sigma Chi Fraternity for information.
Sigma Pi Scholastic Leadership Scholarship
Student must be a member of the Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity. Recipient must be a full-time sophomore or above with a 2.75 cumulative GPA. Contact Sigma Pi Fraternity for information.
Sports Shake/Lake Country Soccer Scholarship
Student must be an entering freshman from a Springfield high school who participated in varsity soccer. Complete the Sports Shake Scholarship Application and return the application along with a letter of recommendation from student's soccer coach or principal certifying the participation and number of years in varsity soccer to the Office of Student Financial Aid by May 31.
Springfield Business and Professional Women's Club Scholarship*
Student must be a full-time junior or senior with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Preference is given to women who demonstrate financial need.
Springfield Rotary Club Scholarship*
Student must be a full-time junior or senior with a 3.5 cumulative GPA and financial need. Recipient must be a Greene County resident majoring in a service related field.
Student Government Association Leadership Scholarship
Student must be enrolled full-time and have completed at least 12 hours at Missouri State with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Recipient must hold an elected or appointed position in SGA, an SGA committee, or other recognized campus organization. Complete the SGA Leadership Application and return to the Office of Student Financial Aid by May 1.
Terry Lynn Washam Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from a Lawrence County high school with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
Tolerance Advocacy Scholarship
Student must have demonstrated a commitment to promote tolerance on campus or in the community. Recipient must have completed 24 hours with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Submit an essay describing participation in organizations or events which promote diversity to Multicultural Student Services by March 1.
Tom Chaney Memorial Scholarship (for graduates of Clever High School)
Student must be an entering freshman from Clever High School or its successor Christian County High School. First preference is given to a music education or performance major. Second preference is given to a student enrolled in at least one course in the music department per semester.
Traveling Men's Booster Club Scholarship*
Student must demonstrate satisfactory scholarship and financial need.
Warren "Pete" C. Rauch Memorial Scholarship*

Wilda F. Looney Residence Life Leadership Scholarship

William Duke Hiett Memorial Scholarship*
Student must be an entering freshman from Houston High School with financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.

Student must be an entering freshman from a Springfield public school ranking in the top 15% of graduating class with financial need.
William G. and Retha S. Baker Scholarship*
Student must graduate in the upper one-third of the class from an Ozark County high school. Recipient must demonstrate citizenship and financial need. Contact the high school counselor for information.
