Transfer Student Financial Aid Checklist

  • Complete the FAFSA or add MSU to a previously filed FAFSA. MSU’s school code is 002503.

  • Access your My Missouri State account to check the status of your financial aid application once you are notified MSU received your FAFSA:
    1. Click on the Student tab
    2. Locate the Financial Aid box and complete the E-Agree, if link is present
    3. Click on the Student Requirements tab
    4. Submit requirements if listed. The office will not be able to process your application and determine your aid eligibility until the required documentation is received and reviewed.

  • Access your My Missouri State account to review your award letter when you are notified it is available:
    1. Click on the Student tab
    2. Locate the Financial Aid box and complete the E-Agree, if link is present
    3. Click on Award for Aid Year and select the correct aid year
    4. Read the Terms and Conditions tab carefully, then Accept or Do Not Accept.
    5. Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions will activate your online award letter

  • Review your online award letter, determine what aid you would like to accept and/or decline and complete any additional steps, such as Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note, listed on the award letter

  • Cancel any subsequent aid scheduled at your previous school. Financial aid received at other institutions could affect aid eligibility at MSU. If you received a Stafford Loan (subsidized or unsubsidized) or Parent Plus Loan (PLUS) at another institution, make sure to contact the prior institution to request they cancel the aid.

  • Notify the MSU office of student financial aid and contact the Missouri Department of Higher Education by phone at 1-800-473-6757, if you have received funding at another institution from one of the state aid programs listed below:
