Friends Against Hunger began in December, 2007 under the original name of Kids Against Hunger. No Friends Against Hunger employee is paid. Volunteers are used for all jobs. The organizational goal is to feed hungry people in the United States and starving people around the world. Volunteers help package well balance meals for the less fortunate.
To education and engage the people of Springfield to aid in the Fight Against Hunger around the world.
There are two different types of meals. Each meal is a uniquely formulated recipe with the goal to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an undernourished child’s body and mind. It is a vegetarian meal that offers 9 of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition for the mind and body. It is very simple to prepare, requiring only 6-8 cups of boiling water to make a complete meal or a great base for different recipes.
What do we do?
We package a specially formulated meal designed to nurse severely malnourished people back to health.
Who can help?
Volunteers 9 years and older. We have found that children younger than 9 are not able to continue the process for two hours.
Why Do we do this?
We have a passion for feeding children. Is the Food Used in the U.S.?Yes we provide it to local feeding programs.
Is the outside of the U.S?
Yes we provide meals to hungry people in other countries.
